For nine generations, Nix, the young heir of the Wyvern Clan, has been trapped in a spirit world, the victim of the Empyreal feud between her father and the Gryphon Clan. Nix has been alone hoping for the day that the new Gryphon will be born and dreading the day that the Wyvern, her father, returns to claim his vengeance.  When new Gryphon, Prince William, is finally born, Nix secretly steps in to teach him the history of their world and his destiny to become the Empyreal light that will unite their clans. But William is just a boy who doesn’t understand the responsibility thrust upon him. The Wyvern has recovered his powers, gathered his army, and is spreading his toxic blight across the land.  To defeat him and end the rivalry between their clans, Nix kidnaps William to force him to find and use his Empyreal light.  But, Nix’s stubbornness is no match for William’s self-doubt.  Even with the help of her long-lost mother and William’s tutor, Nix realizes that she must confront her father directly and try to stop him on her own.  No matter the cost.
